History Details For - Quebec II

4/27/1760
The year after the French governor-general Vaudreiul-Cavagnal surrendered Quebec, he sent 8,500 men up river from Montreal to retake Quebec under the command of General Duc Francois de Levis. The British, commanded by General James Murray were outnumbered nearly 2 to 1 and lost nearly 1/2 of their force. The British withdrew to the fortifications of the city of Quebec and were reinforced by a British fleet the next month forcing the French to retreat to Montreal.
