History Details For - St. Vincent Cape1/16/1780Admiral George Rodney set sail from England on December 29. Southwest of Portugal Rodney encountered 11 ships under the command of Admiral Don Juan de Langara. On January 16th there was a very brief battle where the Spanish lost 1 ship and had 6 more captured by the British. The British took the provisions from the captured vessels to reinforce the defenders of Gibraltar.Links:
